Caribbean Chillers Jimmy Buffett Tribute Plays Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center

You don’t need a beach to catch that Jimmy Buffett feeling — Pasco County’s own community library will do just fine. On Saturday, August 1, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, the Caribbean Chillers — a Jimmy Buffett tribute band with its own touring circuit of Parrothead shows — play the indoor theater at the Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center in Odessa for what’s billed locally as a “Parrothead Party.”

It’s a low-key, low-cost way to spend a Saturday afternoon: general admission tickets run $13 plus taxes and fees, seating is first come first served, and the Friends of Starkey Ranch Library will be selling concession items for a cash donation if you want a snack while you settle in for the set.

The venue is worth knowing about on its own merits. Completed in 2021, the Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center is a roughly 26,000-square-foot facility jointly run by Pasco County Libraries, Pasco County Schools, and the Starkey Ranch community — part library, part 250-seat performing arts theater, and part community meeting space, sometimes described locally as “the community’s living room.” It regularly hosts exactly this kind of affordable tribute concert alongside its library and school programming, which makes it one of the more unexpected live-music venues in the county.
