Once a month, the parking lot at KRATE at the Grove fills with lawn chairs instead of cars. Caribbean Night runs the second Saturday of every month at the Wesley Chapel food hall and retail complex, and the next one lands this Saturday, Oct. 10, 7-11 p.m.
DJ Q runs the music — reggae, soca, and calypso for the full four hours — while KRATE’s usual lineup of more than 30 restaurants and bars stays open around it, including Rhythm Pon De Grill for anyone who wants actual Jamaican food to go with the set rather than just festival snacks. There’s no cover charge and no ticket to buy ahead of time.
KRATE at the Grove is built as an outdoor food hall and shopping strip rather than a single restaurant, which is why this works as a monthly event in the first place — there’s already a dozen-plus bars and a playground on site, so Caribbean Night is really just the existing complex with a DJ added, not a separate ticketed production bolted on. It’s dog-friendly and family-friendly, and lawn chairs are explicitly welcome on the open lawn area.
One thing worth knowing: it’s BYO-chair, not BYO-cooler. Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed on site — the point is to actually spend the evening at one of the restaurants or bars already there, not bring your own.
The Grove has turned into one of the more active event spaces in Wesley Chapel over the past year or so — it’s the same complex where The Market Elaine brought in 150-plus vendors for a First Friday pop-up, and it sits a short drive from The Hub at Lexington, the newer self-pour taproom anchoring the other end of the corridor. Caribbean Night is the one that repeats every month rather than showing up once and disappearing, which makes it worth building a Saturday around rather than catching by accident — and if this Saturday doesn’t work, there’s usually something else going on in Pasco County that same week.
Good to know: 5817 Goldview Pkwy, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544. Second Saturday of every month, 7-11 p.m. No cover. Free parking on site.
