Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (40th Anniversary)

Forty years on from the John Hughes original, this is a straight big-screen replay of the movie you already own — Matthew Broderick, the stolen Ferrari, the most famous fake sick day in American film. The theatre’s own pitch is that the crowd makes the night, and that’s the honest case for going: a room full of people who can quote the lines back at the screen is a different experience than watching it alone at home.

Buy direct through the theatre rather than a resale site. Reseller fees on a $7.75 ticket are, proportionally, absurd — you’d pay more in fees than in ticket price. One number worth knowing: 133 people came to this same movie night last year, and the theatre is openly trying to beat it. That’s a nonprofit venue that counts its audience one seat at a time, not a chain multiplex padding a report.

Parking

The theatre doesn’t have its own dedicated lot, but downtown New Port Richey has three free options within walking distance: the New Port Richey Parking Structure at 6218 US-19 (open 24 hours, free, with EV charging and its own trolley service to downtown), plus the Thomas Meighan lot on Nebraska Ave and the Gloria Swanson lot on Bank St. On a $7.75 movie night the crowd is usually manageable, but downtown can fill up fast if there’s also a restaurant crowd or a food truck event running the same evening — leave time to park and walk rather than circling Grand Blvd.

One thing to know before you go

This is an intimate, community-run house, not a stadium-seating multiplex — expect a smaller screen and a more personal room than a chain theater, which for a movie built around a rowdy, in-on-the-joke crowd is exactly the point. Box office hours are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., plus 45 minutes before the show — call (727) 842-6777 if you need to reach someone outside that window.
