Pasco County’s craft beer scene has grown quietly but steadily over the past decade, and it now spans the county — from historic downtown New Port Richey to Wesley Chapel’s newer commercial corridors to a converted bank building in downtown Zephyrhills. Here are five real, currently operating breweries worth a stop, whichever end of the county you’re starting from.
Cotee River Brewing Company — New Port Richey
Cotee River Brewing holds a real piece of local history: it was the first brewery to open in the City of New Port Richey. Owner Bryan Hackman brewed the taproom’s first commercial batch in August 2018 — a Market Fresh Wheat made in collaboration with his wife Kelly’s tea company, Driftwood Tea Company. The brewery started on a 1-barrel system and upgraded to the 3-barrel setup still in use today in November 2019.
The taproom shares its building with the brewing facility in historic downtown New Port Richey, decorated with historic photos of the Pithlachascotee (Cotee) River the brewery is named for, and hosts live music on Saturday evenings. It’s located at 5760 Main St., open Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays), with hours running from noon on weekends to as late as 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Dented Keg Ale Works — New Port Richey
A few doors down at 5500 Main St. Suite 104, Dented Keg Ale Works grew out of two decades of homebrewing into a family-owned 3.5-barrel operation that’s been recognized locally as a Business of the Year. Beyond house brews, it pours guest taps from other Florida breweries plus ciders, seltzers, and wine.
What sets Dented Keg apart is the calendar: trivia every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., bingo Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., karaoke on the 2nd and 4th Fridays, live music on weekends, a monthly book club, and even a monthly fly-tying course. It’s open Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m.–10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.–11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–8 p.m.; closed Mondays.
Florida Avenue Brewing Co. — Wesley Chapel
On the other side of the county, Florida Avenue Brewing Co. runs a 30,000-square-foot destination brewery at 2029 Arrowgrass Dr. in Wesley Chapel — a much bigger footprint than the downtown taprooms further west. It offers 16 beers on draft, handcrafted cocktails, a full-service restaurant, a walk-in beer cave, and a covered patio beer garden, plus a production facility that runs brewery tours.
Hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m.–10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.–11 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–9 p.m.
In The Loop Brewing Company — Land O’ Lakes
In The Loop Brewing started the way a lot of good local breweries do: a couple of friends homebrewing in a garage before turning it into a real business at 3338 Land O’ Lakes Blvd. The name comes from that original garage’s location on a street called Cherbourg Loop — the informal gathering spot the founders wanted to recreate for the neighborhood.
It’s a dog-friendly, lakeside hangout with a biergarten for beer, beer cocktails, and wine, and a large grassy patio area where pets are welcome alongside their owners. Hours: closed Monday, Tuesday 4–9 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 4–10 p.m., Friday and Saturday noon–11 p.m., Sunday noon–8 p.m.
Zephyrhills Brewing Company — Zephyrhills
Founded by Robert Hilferding — the 2014 American Homebrewers Association National Homebrewer of the Year — Zephyrhills Brewing Company opened in fall 2016 as the first brewery in East Pasco County. Robert and his wife Terry converted an old bank building in a downtown stretch that had struggled with empty storefronts, doing much of the renovation work themselves. The brewery changed hands in 2019 and again in September 2024, when new owners who’d lived in Zephyrhills for two decades took over.
It’s located at 38530 5th Ave., and pours more than 25 beers on tap in a family- and dog-friendly tasting room with a patio and party room available. Wednesdays bring Music Bingo at 6:30 p.m.
Planning a brewery run across the county
The two New Port Richey spots (Cotee River and Dented Keg) are close enough to visit both in one trip through downtown. Florida Avenue Brewing and In The Loop are both reasonably close together on the Wesley Chapel/Land O’ Lakes side. Zephyrhills Brewing is the outlier geographically, out toward East Pasco, but it’s worth the drive on its own — especially with Wednesday Music Bingo or a Saturday visit to Cotee River’s live music. Most of these are closed Mondays, so plan a midweek or weekend visit accordingly.
