Things to Do in Wesley Chapel With Kids: Ice Skating, Play Cafes, Parks and Trails (Fall 2026)

Wesley Chapel was first called Double Branch, for the twin creeks on the Boyette land, and one of its nicknames was Gatorville. It took the Wesley Chapel name from the Methodist chapel at the corner of State Road 54 and Boyette Road. The historic marker says its early economy ran on turpentine, sawmills, cattle, hogs and citrus. Today the options for kids include an ice rink, two indoor play spaces and a county district park with an inclusive playground.

Prices and hours here are from each place’s own site on Oct. 24, 2026, and they change. Where a page was missing a number or disagreed with itself, this says so.

Parks and trails

Wesley Chapel District Park

7727 Boyette Rd., 813-345-3145. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It has a playground, an inclusive playground, a street hockey rink, tennis, basketball, volleyball and pickleball courts, and ball fields. The recreation center is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it’s closed Sundays. The county page doesn’t list a fee, and it doesn’t list a pool, so don’t plan on one.

Cypress Creek Preserve (nearby)

The Southwest Florida Water Management District puts this one in Land O’ Lakes, at 8720 Pump Station Rd., so it’s near Wesley Chapel, not in it. It has 7,400 acres and about 19 miles of trails, roughly 5 miles of paved multiuse path from Pump Station Road and 11 miles unpaved. It’s open from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset, and it’s free. There are no restrooms or water at the entrances, and trails can be wet. Florida law requires cyclists under 16 to wear helmets. Equestrian and primitive camping were closed Oct. 11 through Oct. 26 for flooding, and the district keeps a closure list worth checking.

Indoors

AdventHealth Center Ice

3173 Cypress Ridge Blvd., 813-803-7372. Public skate is $11 for a one-hour session, and skate rental is $7. The rink lists a $7 skate aid for younger kids. The Friday Night Meltdown is a two-hour session at $22 online with skates included, or $25 in person. A monthly pass is $50. The rink doesn’t take cash and requires an account. Public session times change by month, so check its schedule page before you drive.

WonderGrounds Play Cafe

1041 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. An indoor playground and cafe for ages 6 and under: $15.95 per child, with adults free. Weekday walk-ins are all day with no reservation. Weekends are reservation-only for non-members, in two-hour sessions. Grip socks are required for kids and caregivers, and sold for $3. It’s open Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bangin Bungee Kidz Zone

At The Shops at Wiregrass, Paseo Drive, Suite 160. Open play is $10 for ages 2 and under and $16 for 3 and older, or $14 with a friend. Adults are free, and socks are required. Its website prints the street number two ways, 28239 and 28329, and carries a 2024 copyright, so call (224) 286-4337 to confirm it’s open and where before you go.

Chuck E. Cheese

6170 Wesley Grove Blvd., 813-979-6200. Arcade, pizza, and an Adventure Zone with a trampoline area and a superhero playground. Hours are Monday to Thursday 11 to 9, Friday 11 to 10, Saturday 10 to 10 and Sunday 11 to 9. Its site advertised a $49.99 family deal and a $7.99-a-month membership on Oct. 24, and per-visit pricing wasn’t posted.

B&B Theatres Wesley Chapel The Grove 16

6333 Wesley Grove Blvd., 813-536-4753. A 16-screen theater with recliners and a ScreenX auditorium. Showtimes and prices are on its site and weren’t checked here.

Shopping with kids

The Grove at Wesley Chapel (6105 Wesley Grove Blvd.) is an open-air center with more than 90 stores and the KRATE container food area. Its home page and its hours page disagree, so most stores run roughly 10 to 9 and hours vary by tenant. It lists mini golf but gives no address, hours or price for it. The Shops at Wiregrass (28211 Paseo Dr.) lists Build-A-Bear Workshop and Barnes & Noble on its family page and posted 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Saturday. Both are free to walk around, and the Grove says it has more than 3,000 parking spaces.

Free: the libraries

Both county branches in Wesley Chapel are free. The Wesley Chapel Branch (27531 Mystic Oak Blvd.) is open Monday and Wednesday 10 to 8, Tuesday and Thursday 10 to 6, and Friday and Saturday 10 to 5. The New River Branch (34043 Wesley Chapel Blvd.) is open Tuesday and Thursday 10 to 8, Monday and Wednesday 10 to 6, and Friday and Saturday 10 to 5. Both are closed Sundays. Children’s programs weren’t checked.

Good to know: Tampa Premium Outlets is in Lutz by its own listing, and Starkey Wilderness Park is in New Port Richey, so neither is on this list. No Wesley Chapel skate park turned up in county or city sources.
