Rated ‘M’ for MAGIC — Cory Van Valin

Cory Van Valin, a four-time Best of the Bay winner with credits on ABC7, Fox 13, CW44 and PBS, brings large-scale illusions with comedy and audience work — billed as “Rated M,” meaning the grown-up version of a magic show rather than a family matinee. Comedian Ginger Kelly opens. It’s an 18-and-up show, roughly two hours.

One detail that says something about the room: Van Valin stays afterward at the merch booth for photos, which isn’t standard practice and is the kind of thing a small nonprofit venue can offer that a touring arena show can’t.

Parking

No dedicated theatre lot, but three free options are within walking distance: the New Port Richey Parking Structure at 6218 US-19 (24 hours, EV charging, its own downtown trolley), the Thomas Meighan lot on Nebraska Ave, and the Gloria Swanson lot on Bank St. A Friday night show means downtown restaurant traffic is also building — leave buffer time before an 8 p.m. curtain.

One thing to know before you go

Bring ID — it’s strictly 18-and-up, unusual for a magic show and worth knowing before you plan a date night around it expecting a family-friendly format. Two ticket tiers exist (general admission and preferred seating), so pick based on how close you want to be rather than assuming one price fits all.
